Today, February 11, we commemorate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science at the PMed4HB consortia.

We are fortunate to have a team predominantly consisting of women who work hard to advance knowledge and improve the treatment of childhood liver cancer. We celebrate to be part of the AECC Scientific Foundation’s network of women researchers.

In this context, we are especially proud to highlight that 2 of our 4 principal investigators are women, representing 50% of leadership positions in our consortium: María Luz Chantal and Carolina Armengol. This figure doubles that of Catalonia, where only 24% of principal investigator and associate professor positions at universities are held by women. Part of our goal in the PMed4HB is to encourage scientific vocations in female from younger generations and ensuring inclusive environments is key to the progress of biomedical research.

To all the women and girls who explore, question, and discover: thank you for inspiring the present and shaping the future of science.
