It has been a pleasure to attended once again the SIOPEL 2024 Annual Meeting in Gdansk, Poland, an important meeting where clinicians and researchers gather together to discuss childhood liver cancer clinical management and treatment options.
Carolina Armengol showcased the latest updates on EU hashtag#PHITT sample collection along with biomarker assessments focused on improving disease management.
All this work is possible thanks to our funders' support: Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer, KickCancer, European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA), Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red CIBER, AGAUR ., and Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP).
Our PhD students Laura Zanatto (Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS)) and Álvaro del Río Álvarez (Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP)) had the opportunity to present their research findings.
Laura Zanatto emphasized the significance of patient-derived organoids as an in vitro model for hepatoblastoma, highlighting their ability to replicate key tumor features and potentially offer insights into patient heterogeneity.
Álvaro del Río Álvarez shared his research on proteomic profiling of childhood liver tumors, unveiling novel biomarkers for enhanced outcome prediction in both tissue and plasma samples.
Both presentations were profoundly inspiring, underscoring the crucial role of their studies in the clinical management of childhood liver cancer.
